The Coronavirus seems to be spreading faster than the common flu virus. WIthin the last week, the virus appears to be community acquired with no linkage to the origin, Wuhan. What does this mean for the average person? Be cautious and prepared.
How to know the difference between the Coronavirus and Flu. The Corona Virus will have a very high fever (103-105), respiratory symptoms, and difficulty breathing. The flu will begin with body aches and pains, possibly have digestive issues, fever, and cough. It is advised to consult your doctor via phone prior to visiting the office.
How to protect yourself from the Coronavirus and Flu. Go back to the basics and wash your hands, cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue or elbow. Do not touch your face when in public and stay at least 3 feet from those that appear to be sick. I can't stress enough about not touching your face when in public. Upon arriving at your home, go directly to the sink and WASH your hands. Act as if you are auditioning for a role on Grey's Anatomy.
Whatever you do, DON'T PANIC. If you think you are sick, STAY HOME. No one is going to be mad at you for saving them from Coronavirus or flu. Want to feel better about being prepared, act like you are preparing for a winter storm that will have you stuck at home for a week. Gather the essentials, soups, rice, beans, etc.... Again, DON'T PANIC. Be educated and prepared.
